Lattice Bud Shawl

I think it's probably my new favourite thing, crocheting with lace.

It may sound like something that's not for the faint hearted but I promise you, it's an absolute breeze once you are over the first few stitches.

I admit, that at the very start it does seem a little wrong to be holding such tiny thin yarn, but as you tend to still use a reasonable size hook with lace patterns (I used a 3.5mm/E with this), it really isn't as fiddly as you might think.

The joy of it though is how quick it works up.  Again, you'd be forgiven for thinking it'd take an age to make something in itty bitty yarn but the patterns are so full of gaps and chained loops that it just grows and grows.  In fact, it's hard to tell quite how big it's getting sometimes.  As with most lace projects, it all crumples up and hides it's size most effectively until you get the blocking equipment out.

Quite the difference isn't it?

As I mentioned when I posted about this beauty before, when it was known simply as 'green shawl', I really enjoyed making this one.  It was one of those to be savoured.  I didn't feel pressure to go fast, a few rows now and again was all I needed and it still managed to whiz by.  I even felt sad when I came to the last repeat.  But I was cheered up by the thought of adding the pretty little buds along the edge.

I love how they turned out, so dainty and just a little tiny touch of colour that really makes it for me.

Yes, I am very happy this this shawl indeed and have been wearing it a lot.  I prefer the wrapped around the neck style and it's so easy to wear that way.  It has just the right amount of cozy warmth when it's wrapped around me that it keeps off the chills beautifully without feeling like I'm bundled up in winter woollys.  And to be honest, I just like the fact it's a pretty little something to add to an outfit, whatever the weather is doing.

I think I can see myself making more of these lighter shawls.  In fact I know I am going to at some point because my whole head is running riot with ideas!

I know some of you have been patiently waiting for the pattern to arrive and I'm so very grateful that you've been interested in it.  I really hope you enjoy and love yours as much as I do.

But, I won't delay any longer... The pattern links you need are all listed below and I've also added a link to the yarn so you can see where I got mine.

Enjoy!
